Parents’ Council

St. Peter’s College Parents’ Council is the structure through which parents/guardians in our school can work together for the best possible education for their sons.

The Education Act, 1998 sets down the role of the parent association (parents’ council).

The Parents’ Council works with the Principal, staff and the Board of Management to build effective partnership of home and school.

Educational research on the involvement of parents in schools shows their sons achieve higher levels when parents and teachers work together.

The Parents’ Council can advise the principal and Board of Management on policy issues and incidents that may require a review of school policy, e.g., Bullying, Safety, Homework, Admissions, Behaviour problems etc.

The Parents’ Council can suggest and/or organize extra-curricular activities. It also can fundraise to help develop the school’s resources/infrastructure.

The Parents’ Council is a support for parents in the school.

The Parents’ Council can invite speakers to address the parents on issues which are topical or relevant.

The Parents’ Council is not a forum for complaint against either an individual teacher or parent. The Complaints Procedure is the mechanism for this.

Members are elected to serve on the Parent’s Council on a yearly basis. We encourage all parents to become actively involved in St.Peter’s College Parent’s Council.
